THE 5 C’s OF GOAL SETTING
It is important to keep in mind the five C’s of life goal setting. They are:
Change
You need to be willing to make changes, both in your operation and within yourself to ultimately make your work satisfying and fulfilling. Dolores Hope, wife of comedian Bob Hope, advises, “your life is going to be as interesting as you make it. Keep active. Keep working. Keep trying. And don’t be afraid of change.”
Creativity
Keep in mind that there’s always another way of looking at things. Approach your work changes from different angles. Visualize new ideas and use the creative power necessary to implement your vision of the way things can be.
Communication
Ask for assistance from others. Gather information that can help you. Verbalize what you want or need clearly and assertively.
Confidence
Believe in yourself. You CAN make this work.
Commitment
Stick with your goals. See them through then revise them or change them as necessary. Tough times don’t last but tough people do. We (the agriculture community) are the toughest people I know.
